Alan Squire Publishing, (ASP) is an independent literary press, founded in 2010 to publish books of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry that are beautifully written and beautifully made. We are committed to bringing to the public books of great merit that deserve a wide readership, and to collaborating with other independent presses both in the U.S. and abroad.

As writers, we have ourselves come up through the independent presses. As readers, we’ve found that the indie presses are where the most interesting, creative, boundary-breaking books are coming from. We are troubled by the fact that a whole lot of good books never make it between covers, usually for terrible reasons. We at ASP are tired of the culture of No — tired of hearing that the marketing departments are where the important decisions really get made, tired of hearing facile predictions about what will or won’t sell, tired of being underestimated as readers and as writers.

We believe that there will always be readers for ambitious and intelligent books. And we founded ASP in order to help bring those books to those readers. Come join us — you won’t be disappointed.
