See Literature Happening! August Readings, Workshops & More
This August Grace, Reuben, Richard, and the indie community are braving the heat to spread the word.
The dog days bring rejuvenative tidings! Three exciting literary events in-doors and air-conditioned, and one event tree-shady and for-a-good-cause to bring together lovers of literature and champions of human rights! Huzzah!
First, on Saturday, August 10th, the Maryland Poet Laureate is reading in her hometown of historic Annapolis, Maryland. Sample the fine, fresh, summery—and vegetarian-friendly—cuisine of locally renowned Evelyn's Restaraunt while feasting your ears and hearts upon an herbescent reading of poetry by the inimitable Grace Cavalieri.

Just three days after, Richard Peabody will be representing Gargoyle and his own work at the 12th annual Lewes Creative Writer's Conference in Lewes, DE. on the 16th he will read from his immense body of poetry and prose; on the 17th he take part in a panel discussion about submitting your work and then host his own poetry roundtable and workshop.

Then, last but certainly not least, that very same August 17th, ASP along with several other poets, will be hosting a table at the Emerging Writers Festival in Alexandria, VA. The table will be set up during the Book Fair portion of the festival which lasts some five hours. We will continue selling through a poetry reading that includes the wonderful Reuben Jackson reading from his new collection, Scattered Clouds. The best part: ASP and the poets at our table will be donating a portion of the proceeds to RAICES, The Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services, which helps ensure that immigrants have the proper (and pro bono) legal services they need to navigate the byzantine and capricious American Legal System.
