Reuben Jackson will appear on WPFW's Live@5 today to read from his new collection of poems, "Scattered Clouds"

ReubenWPFW

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 3rd: Reuben Jackson will appear today on WPFW's Live@5. Although the coveted spot is usually reserved for musical guests, Reuben Jackson's jazz-informed Scattered Clouds will be the focus of today's show as the author reads from his own work.

Started in 1977 as a single-room broadcast, WPFW has become one of the leading voices for progressive news in the DC area. They are known for their dedicated volunteers, their business model which is free of "corporate underwriting," and for their focus on Jazz, Blues, and World music. Tune your radio to 89.3 or stream the show online at https://wpfwfm.org/radio/

Reuben Jackson's Scattered Clouds CoverScattered Clouds is a volume of lyrical, emotionally forthright meditations on love, loss, and longing. The volume contains the complete text of the author’s award-winning first collection, fingering the keys; his nationally lauded poem, “For Trayvon Martin”; and his suite of ruminations on a long-time and deeply missed friend, the late barbershop owner Amir Yasin, and his widow Khadijah Rollins. These poems, exploring Amir’s late-life romance with Kadijah, became a national internet sensation.
